Vestal and UE Clubs Host Badminton Tournament for Charity

Published:
The Vestal and UE Chinese clubs are raising some money for children overseas.

The schools are hosting a badminton tournament with funds going to the Half the Sky Foundation.

The foundation raises money for orphans with physical impairments in China.
It was just $20 per team and about 20 teams participated.
Coordinators say between $400 and $500 was raised at Saturday's tournament and that the organization has actually helped a number of children within our own community as well.

Ethan Pan, coordinator of Chinese Club said, "It's really nice to know we're doing something meaningful. There are even a few kids in our community who were adopted from organizations so it's nice to help an organization out that has had an impact on our local community."

The funds will be sent to the Half the Sky foundation at the end of this year.
And Vestals Chinese Club is also inviting community to their Chinese New Year's celebration on Thursday, February 6th featuring presentations on the culture and a Chinese themed dinner.
