Binghamton Celebrates the First Friday of the New Year with an Art Walk

Published:
To kick off the new year and show off some local art, Binghamton hosted their First Friday Art Walk tonight.

The Gorgeous Washington Street Association presented an art walk which featured twenty locations downtown as well as west and east sides of Binghamton. First Friday participants began their walk at Cooperative Gallery 213 for the fourth annual Bob Johnston Memorial Photography Show and Competition.

Jeanne VanBuren, member/artist of Cooperative Gallery 213 described the photograph that took first place and said, "It's fun, it's colorful, but all around the gallery one piece is just as wonderful as the next".

"The quality is just overwhelmingly wonderful and my father who was a photographer all his life and died at age 94, would be just overwhelmed with how good these photographs are," said Peg Johnston, President of Cooperative Gallery 213.

Johnston says her father loved to capture landscape settings as well as weather scenes. She said this show is a great place for local photographers to show their art.
