VERSAILLES, IN (AP) - A horse-drawn carriage with the casket of a southern Indiana Marine killed in Afghanistan led hundreds of mourners who walked to the cemetery where he was buried.
The mourners were remembering 25-year-old Cpl. John Bishop in Versailles on Thursday.
The Republic of Columbus reports Staff Sgt. Thomas Praxedes told those at the funeral he learned through two tours in Iraq with Bishop that he was "as fierce as they come in combat."
The military says Bishop was killed Sept. 8 during combat operations in Helmand province. Bishop's wife is pregnant with their first child, and he had a 4-year-old son from a previous marriage.
